Due to the strength of the dollar rising a little lately $1.00 US is about S2.9...about 3 to one. Are the Nuevo Soles or old soles? Old ones are recyclable as paper. You say you have 16,680 worth. If it is 16,680 nuevo soles...it is approximately $6000.00. Best place to transfer it....take a trip to Peru and enjoy your self. Go find a Lan Peru airlines. enjoy

Why don't you ask someone whose got some money. They can charge you a fee that will compensate them for the time they need to exchange it into US$. You'll get less US$ but you won't have to wait.

hmmm tough one! you can try currency exchange on google. As for where to change it, i think the bank is the safest place. there are tons of banks in miraflores, maybe you should try one of those.
