Can an intercultural relationship work

Can an intercultural relationship work?
I'm American and my boyfriend is from Peru, and now that we have spent a long time together, we are starting to find out that there are things about each other's culture that drive us crazy!! I don't understand why he won't branch out from just his family and stop living like he is still in his home country and he can't understand why I like to go out with friends and just hang out with him and not his extended family!! Does anyone have experience dating someone from another culture and have advice?

The couple has been married since August of 2004, and they rent their home and only own a car together. He wants the divorce on the grounds of irreconcileable differences, and she wants to work it out.

What are my chances of getting into these Universities

What are my chances of getting into these Universities?
I am wondering what my chances are to get in to the following colleges: UC Berkeley UCLA UC San Diego Northwestern University University of Chicago. I took the SAT and received a 2040. I also took the ACT and got a 31. I took the SAT Subject Tests in U.S. History and Chemistry and received 730 and 680. My GPA is 4.3 weighted, 4.0 unweighted. I've been on student government for 4 years and LINK Crew, another leadership organization. I have 200+ hours of community service, and am going to go to Peru to work with underprivileged children (i created the project by myself). My teachers have said they would love to write recommendation letters for me, and my personal statement should be pretty decent too. Thank you! Sorry, could you rank me on a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being the most likely to get in

It looks like you have a pretty good shot to me. Apply.
2 :
I'd say you have a very good chance, especially for UCLA and UCSD. But I still like your odds for the others. Look on collegeboard.com and the schools websites for additional admissions info.
3 :
dang why haven't you applied already? the only thing keeping you from that acceptance letter is the application!!
4 :
Your SAT is low, which suggest you're performing over your natural level. This may mean the elite schools will turn down your application, and go with candidates who SAT ang GOPA are better balanced. You should include some "fit" and "safety" schools. For example: Colgate University SUNY-Binghamton Santa Clara University Villanova

Should I have cosmetic surgery or visit my fiance? Please comment on this.

Should I have cosmetic surgery or visit my fiance? Please comment on this.?
I planned on December on getting a tummy tuck and breast lift on June because I've lost about 150 lbs. The thing is I had broken up with my boyfriend but we got back together in March. Now we're going to get married but I'm not going to be able to see him in about 8 mos to a year because he lives in Peru and works on a cruise ship. I was planning on using the money I've saved on my surgery but I don't know if it's better to visit him in October and have the surgery done later. I also can't take more vacations from work so I have to choose between both. What do you think? I need opinions. Thanks!

Looking good before bros. Tummy tuck is a positive.
2 :
Your certainty over what you want to do for yourself beats out his previous indecisiveness any day. Invest in yourself. I'm sure both of you will love the results. Also, his time away will also give you time to heal and you can present your best self when you all do see each other. Congratulations on getting married.
3 :
Go for the cosmetic surgery. Visiting him would be nice, but sometimes you just need to treat yourself.
4 :
You may never get this opportunity again for a while, especially if 'something unexpected' pops up. Get the surgery. If it's meant to be, then he will still be waiting for you when you do get a chance to see him. Or you may be surprised, he may visit you instead. Treat yourself so you don't regret it! I was going to get my my surgeries (mommy makeover: boobs and tummy tuck), and my husband was very supportive, but I decided to use the money instead to pay off bills and I still feel like crap. Now, I have to wait until next year. I hate the way my 'torso' area looks, seriously! Get yourself fabulous. Us women tend to feel selfish at times if we put ourselves ahead of others, but it is necessary at times and it sounds like your time is now. If I could have that money back, I would say damn the consumer debt, paid cash for my surgeries and keep paying on my debt and feel good about my body in the meantime. I thought I was doing the 'good thing on paper', but it was not a good thing for me afterall. However, it's too late now. My vote is for you to Go For It! Best Wishes!

Will Vonage work on Verizon Fios or Cox

Will Vonage work on Verizon Fios or Cox?
My mom is moving to a new place (Falls Church, VA) and she wants to get Vonage as her phone line (its free to call to Peru and that's the only place she calls, being peruvian and all). Anyways, where she used to live she got Comcast, but they don't have jurisdiction in Falls Church and she has the following choices: -Cox -Verizon Fios Which will work with Vonage, and if both do, which is the best (rate both Internet and TV)?
Land Phones - 1 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :

both will work with vonage... the problem is that net-neutrality has failed in the courts, so internet providers CAN block services and ports if they choose... i have not yet heard any issues with companies blocking VoIP traffic, but this is a possibility unless the FCC & courts prevent something like this from happening... FiOS will want a 2 year contract... the pricing for cable vs FiOS is very similar... unless DOCISS 3.0 is available in your area from cox (highly unlikely that it is available) then FiOS will be able to offer a faster speed internet than cable... the extra speed is not needed for vonage, since vonage could even work with DSL.. but if you plan on using the internet to stream high def movies, or other bandwidth intense programs (such as online gaming) then the extra speed would come in handy..

Either, a) Start a Non-profit of your own [ www.managementhelp.org/strt_org/strt_np/strt_np.htm or www.ctnonprofits.org/pages/NonprofitResources/startnonprofit.asp for starters], and get rich people to give you money (they're often rich-guilty enough to do that :) or b) find non-profits who provide assistance for needy children abroad (these folks, in Peru, might be able to start you in the right direction http://www.planeterra.org/peru.php, or contact local hospitals and ask who they receive aid from) c) there are ways to take donations to your webiste, but you'll probably have to try step (a) above beforehand. Good luck!!

Your cause sounds like a noble one, but what about the children right here in this country that go everyday hungery, with proper shelter, clothing and love. Charity starts at home! By taking care of your own only then can the others be taken care of!

now you only need the +51 before the cellphone number. since the number he gave you starts with a 9, that's a cellphone number. if you're using a cellphone/landline, you may as well use 0051 , so if the number is 9aabbccdd, you need to dial: +51 9aabbccdd or 00519aabbccdd good luck!

Does anyone have any information on preColumbian art that shows pictures of dinosaurs.?
I saw a show on TBN called Creation In The 21st Century that described the work of Dr. Dennis Swift in Peru in South America and Dr. Swift has fabrics, pots, totem poles and the petroglyphs that the Nazca Indians etched in the top of the mountain that show dinosaurs and prove that dinosaurs lived recently. I'm looking for these pictures. I've seen the pictures of the lines in the top of the mountain before but he showed one of a dinosaur and I would like to find it on the internet.

Don't bother. There were many fantastic creatures depicted. Some of them happened to resemble dinosaurs. It's totally irresponsible to conclude that they had seen dinosaurs and included some real creatures in with the numerous fantasy beasts they depicted.

can my one year old son go to school

can my one year old son go to school?
Hi, I have a baby boy. He is 13 months old and he doesn't interact with many people because I don't have any family in california so it's only him and me all day until his daddy comes home from work. I am from Peru and over there we have schools for babies starting 6 months old, it's called early education. I was wondering if there's such thing here in Los Angeles. I would love to take my baby so he can have a head start and also he could interact with more kids. Thanks a lot!

Day Care, but at 13 months they still need that bonding time with mom and dad
4 :
No, don't do that. Children need to stay with their parents a good while before going to school. That's why we don't have schools till three years old and they're not required to go until they're five.
5 :
Your local library should have a story time for his age group. I went because none of my friends have kids yet. But I made lots of friends at story time, so did my son. We have been going for almost a year!
6 :
A lot of churches have programs for one or two days a week for a few hours that your son could play with others and you could meet moms, or just have a break. Sometimes they call it Mom's Day Out, or MOPS (mothers of pre schoolers). Your local library is a good place to find out what other community activities are around your area. Ask them. It is good for children to be around other children sometimes. Good Luck to you.

try a mommy and me class. he will get social interaction there is also day care but that's not really a good idea

IRS tax rules for foreign private pension funds? Tax gurus, please help!

IRS tax rules for foreign private pension funds? Tax gurus, please help!?
I am a Peruvian citizen, and lived/worked in Peru until 2002. While I worked in Peru I participated in the mandatory Private Pension Fund contribution through a deduction in each of my paychecks. By the time I left Peru my balance was only around $2,000 and I totally forgot about it. I moved to the US in 2002 and have filed my taxes as a Non Resident Alien (on student visa) until the year 2006; starting in 2007 (H-1B visa) I started filing as a Resident Alien. I understand that starting in 2007 I am taxed on worldwide income. Last week I just remembered about the $2K balance I had in my Peruvian pension fund and inquired about my new balance - It is now $12,000!!!. This means I have had earnings on my contributions. The Peruvian law doesn't let me withdraw my funds until I am 65 years old. Questions: 1) Do I have to pay taxes on the earnings that I am accruing each year on that Peruvian Private pension fund? Should I have done this since 2007? 2) Do I need to file TD F 90-22.1./ FBAR and declare my foreign account since now I have more than $10K? Thanks a lot for your help tax experts! Thanks Tro! So I will only declare income when I withdraw - How about reporting it through FBAR? I read there is this IRS regulation that asks me to report any type of financial account (not only bank accounts) if they are above $10K - Any insights on this? I also read in an International Tax Expert site that the plan would need to meet US qualification rules in order not to get taxed until withdrawal? The issue is that I still can't understand these rules! IRC 402 (b), 409 (a), etc. - too confusing! Thanks for your help tax experts!

you will declare the income on the retirement when you take distribution, you don't need to claim any income on it during the years it is in the account, that will all be handled when you take distribution and if you are taxed on world wide income even as resident alien, I am not aware of this, I know that US citizens are but didn't know non citizens were---learn something new all the time
2 :
Acutally, you CAN get Peruvian pension before you're 65 if you've lived outside of Peru for 5 years. You'll have to go to Peru or give someone a carta de poder, prove that you'er in the US legally, and show them a contract from your work, and the pension scheme that you want Peru to deposit your money, from Peru, to the US pension scheme.

i am traveling and working in peru, renting a house in arequipa(a southern city) for a month, and i cook alot lately my stomach hurts(nothing serious, but not as usual) i am cooking alot with water from the tap, can it be the reason? i am always boiling them, should i start cooking and drinking my tea with mineral water?? thanks alot in advance!!

i dont think so you said you boiled it so i see no harm.
2 :
bottle water only
3 :
yeh definatley cook and drink water from a bottle such as mineral water cuz our bodies ain't use to other countries water and there have been documentaries on tv about forein water and we shouldnt drink it it can do things to our bodies
4 :
Even if you have boiled the water to be extra safe you should only drink bottled water, it's muh safer.
5 :
If you are bringing the water to a hard boil, it should kill anything dangerous in it. Although, I would go with bottled water anyway.
6 :
Adequate boiling should remove most bacteria, but what is the chemical content of the water? In that area it could contain heavy metals. Using bottled water for all intake may be a wise thing to do.
7 :
Always ask your doctor, giving him all of your symtoms. It could be your body adjusting to the environment, it could be something you ingested or it cold be something minor that needs alittle medical attention. Don't ask people over the internet, ask your doctor.
8 :
it is a great possibility that it is the water, but take notice of what kind of food you are eating and where you are buying the food maybe change a supermarket or stop eating meat for a while see what happens usually it the food, like meat or fruits rarely vegetables. so for a while eat things separately if you are having potatoes don't eat meat with it have a salad instead. See what happens just stay away from unknown things.
9 :
yes. This is called Montezuma's revenge. South American countries do not have a water purifing system like the one in the US. Microorganizms that are normally removed in treatment plants in the US are not in those countries. Its rarely fatal but serious conditions can develop. This is what is upsetting your stomach. Boling the water does help but it doesn't kill everything. Check with a doctor then switch to bottled water.
10 :
you need to boil the water before you use it then cook wit it... not just boil it as you cook...the water needs to be at a rolling boil for several minutes ...to kill all kinds of stuff...then let it cool a little then cook with it.. and as far as drinking water..I would use a noticeable named brand of bottled water ONLY..period! or bottled wine............. and you may want to see a doctor for this small intestinal problem before it gets worse at this time....at this time it just my take a little meds to fix you up..but do not let it go on... good luck smile

Lima will be hot, muggy and dusty, so take lightweight cotton, casual. The mountains, like Cuzco will be cooler, sometimes rainy so have some heavier clothing and rainwear. Since you will be going to different areas, pack things that can be layered, and try to stay in a range of colors that will mix and match. We have travelled to Peru a lot, my husband is from there and the mountains are the best. You can aways buy some nice alpaca sweaters when you go to Cuzco, that way you don't have to pack them for the trip.

Stay at home mom wishing to take in one or two infants to toddlers for extra cash in peru indiana any pointers
what should I charge? I've been working in the health care feild for eight years, but would prefer to stay at home with my four month old son. You don't have to be liscensed in indiana unless you take in more than five children.

Put an ad in the paper. Tell family and friends that you are wanting to babysit. What yuo should charge really depends on what is normal for the area. I live in Central Missouri and I pay $170 for two weeks per kid.
2 :
I think the best thing to do is call around & see what other places/home childcare providers are charging & then charge a little less, or equivilent. In Texas the avg. charge for an infant is $110 per week & toddlers are about $80 p/week. Once you've decided on the charge, run an ad in the paper for advertisement.
3 :
peru is not in india and u should take care of your kids
4 :
Look in the yellow pages, call up a couple of baby minders and ask how much THEY charge as if you were considering.... advertize on your church's social board
5 :
When I babysat i had my 2 year old son babysitting a 1 year old and a two year old that were brother and sister. With a young baby I recomend babysitting toddlers that or more independant bc its hard to take care of more than 1 baby at a time. I doubt working moms would pay a high amount of money because it's not daycare but when I charged anywhere between five dollars an hour to 25 dollars a day.
6 :
Jake, you should learn to pay attention to what you read. She said Peru Indiana not India and I assure you there is a Peru Indiana as I used to work there and I currently live not too far from there. I stayed home about 5 years ago and did daycare in my home. I went through all the classes and was going to get a license but chose not to because of all the hassle. I charged $60.00 for the first child and gave a break to families who have more than one. I did my research and made up contracts to protect both myself and the clients, Plus it eliminated any confusion on pay and fee's and overtime. I enjoyed it tremendously and would still be a stay at home mom if I weren't a single parent now.
7 :
Call around and see what the other places in your area are charging for the different ages and take it from there.
8 :
I have a 6 month old baby and I watch a one year old little girl 3 to 4 days a week and I charge $100 per week. I also watch her 5 year old brother and charge $20 per day for him.

It is very difficult for a foreigner to get legal work in Peru, or any of the Latin countries for that matter. You can be issued a work visa only if you have a skill or profession that cannot be provided by a local. Even then you usually have to have an employer sponsor. If you were to be an independent language teacher, there is still the issue of visa and or residency.

YOu could always border hop. People on www.expatperu.com have been doing it for years. Barring that, get a BEd, and apply for intl school jobs.

What are the best things to do in Cuzco, Peru

What are the best things to do in Cuzco, Peru?
I'll be working at an Orphanage in Huancayo for three weeks and then I'll be taking a week to go see the sites in Cuzco. What should I do? Machu Picchu is of course the main thing, is there an inexpensive 3 or four day hike through tht jungle I can take? What souvenirs should I look for? Give me the inside scoop so I'll know that to avoid and what not to miss. Thank you!!!!!!

While looking for souvenirs look for like magnets for your refrigerator or come back with exotic fruits or something take 2 to 3 cameras to take pictures of everything you see when u go to reveal the photos make extra copies so that u can give some to ur family or in case one gets lost u still have another one
2 :
Hi I would check out Machu Pichu for sure.. You might want to do the lares trek or 2 day inca trail or something like that too. also get a tour of the sacred valley and the cusco city tour. we used www.sunriseperu.com for all our treks and travel there.. they are based in peru. as for souveniers there are tons everywhere.. the scarfs and hats and necklaces are always good to give to people
3 :
The cusco region has a lot sites to be seen. The temple of the lightning in Cusco is impresive and some other limestone shrines near by. On the other hand the sacred valley when going to Machupicchu is worthy to be seen. If you are explorer you can hike further to Vicabamba last inca remote stronhold, or if you are more traditionalist stay in Cusco and Machupicchu. but if you are more adventure you can try mountain biking, horse riding, rafting and jungle trips like Manu. Finally you can visit PPZ for live rock and jazz concerts just 2 block from the main square, it has good atmosphere, local people and nice drinks. http://www.southamericamyjourney.com In the folowing site you can find the right tour for you by answering a interesting test: http://www.southamericamyjourney.com/reservas/paginas/nextjourney.php
4 :
Good for you! Take in the ruins in Cuzco and go horseback riding. It's super cheap and totally worth it. I don't think an inexpensive multi-day hike exists. Make train reservations to Machu Picchu in advance and hike to up to the peak of Wanapicchu(sp). Save your money for the expensive jungle hike for your next trip to Machu Piccu. Once you see it, you will want to go back. As far as souvenirs go, pick up a hand-made chess set featuring the Incas vs the Spanish explorers. It may sound ridiculous, but I think it is one of the coolest gifts I've ever brought back. good luck

The BEST way to look for that is actaully if you KNOW where you want to work and you go to their website and look for "contact us" or "recruiting" etc. You better find a transnational or really big company. Hi Matt, every Sunday in El Comercio there is a huge section of job offerings and I have always spotted one or two hotel openings for various positions. MAybe you have already checked there but it's worth the try. I also recommend you go to the major hotels and leave them your resume. There's Marriot (Miraflores), Sonesta Posada del Inca (San Isidro), Sonesta El Olivar (San Isidro), Park Plaza (Miraflores), Los Delfines (San Isidro), Swisshotel (San Isidro), El Polo Apart hotel (in front of the american embassy) You can also try leaving your resume in the american embassy, in the consulate section as they may find a position for you in a company or an hotel. Anyhow, good luck!
2 :
A lot depends on what kind of visa you have. The best way is to have a contract from overseas. There are a lot of security companies in Peru for obvious reasons, unfortunately salaries in general are very low. You might be better of starting your own business. Good luck!

Do I have to know Spanish volunteering for Vive Mexico

Do I have to know Spanish volunteering for Vive Mexico?
I'm willing take part in a work camp with kids in Peru with VIVE MEXICO. The official language of the camp is English and Spanish is just "recommended", but since I have to work with kids I was wondering how I'm supposed to deal with them if my knowledge of Spanish is quite little. What would you suggest?

I would suggest that you do some other volunteer work that you are better qualified to do. You are absolutely right. How can you work with kids if you can't even speak their language? I am surprised the organization even permits non-Spanish-speakers to go at all.

how do i text these numbers in Peru

how do i text these numbers in Peru?
Okay, so in peru cell phone numbers begin with either 99, 98, or 97. My phone only sends text messages to 99 numbers for some reason. Does anyone know how to do it for a 98, or 97? For example 99 would be: 01151199(seven digit number) I do the same thing for 98, and 97 and they won't receive them. I would appreciate it if someone told me how the others work pleasee im dying to know, thnks

What youre doing is right, but since there are different phone companies in peru, some will receive international text messages and some wont. Maybe the phones starting with 98 or 97 are from the companies that dont receive those messages. Ask what phone they have (claro, nextel, movistar) and find the pattern.
2 :
go to the claro website claro peru obviously from there you can text any phone that can recieve a text message regardless of the cell company

I'm taking a trip to South America. I'm starting in Uruguay and eventually working my way to Peru, passing through Bolivia. Bolivia requires a tourist visa. Plugging in US laptop in Peru -- do I need an adaptor

Plugging in US laptop in Peru -- do I need an adaptor?
The laptop's plug seems to fit into the the socket. The computer works. But I have heard that Peru has 220 volt AC, whereas the US has 120 volt AC. Will I damage my compuer by plugging it in?
Peru - 3 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
Almost all of Peru does have 220 volt AC. So it will depend on your laptop's power supply. If it says 100-240V on it, then you'll be fine as is. If it says 110-120V, then you will need a step-down transformer or converter. As you've noted, plug are the same; so you won't need a plug adapter.
2 :
It depends on your charger. Look at the block part of your power cord. Mine says "input of 100-240V" therefore I would not need an adapter. If yours has a similar range, you do not need an adapter, otherwise you do.
3 :
As others have said, check the adapter... Just wanted to add that sockets are not always grounded (they might have 3 slots, but the domestic type usually has 2 - and they fit either the flat kind of plugs or both the flat and the rounded type), so you might want to bring a small socket adapter that allows you to plug it in 2 pin sockets...

What do they have at the pharmacies in Peru

What do they have at the pharmacies in Peru?
Hello folks, I am going to peru to stay a while and I'd like to know what they have there to treat insomnia. Here in Canada I been taking a pill composed of 5 grams Oxycodone and 325 grams Acetaminophen and it works really well to get me to sleep every night. Does anyone know if this is available in Peru? Or what else is available in Peru that is similar? Thanks

I don't know if in Perù there's this medicine, but in almost every pharmacie you can find a doctor to help you, and there are almost the same medicine you can find in Usa, but sorry, you can't carry with you this composed?
2 :
write down the name of those and just tell them that you are looking for that or something similar. Im peruvian born and raise there. and I think they must have it, if not at least an equivalent.
3 :
Pharmacies in Lima are well supplied, I am sure you will find what you are looking for. You may be asked for a receipt, but in most pharmacies it is not mandatory. Notice that most medicines are available with the original name and with a different name (the same medicine but cheaper, they are called "genéricos"). "Inkafarma", "BTL" or "Fasa" pharmacies are available everywhere in Lima. Good luck!
4 :
Certainly you'll find that medicine in Peru, it doesn't come with acetaminophen, the brand names are oxycontin, oxyrapid, oxydonna, it comes in 5, 10, 20 and 40 mg. the other truth is that you won't be able to buy it without a prescription because as being oxycodone a narcotic, it is of restricted sale, it means you have to present a special kind of prescription (not a common one), they will retain the prescription and will enter you in a database of patients requiring narcotics. Not the best idea to use a narcotic as a sleep pill. Try some relaxing infusion as wawasana relajante or maybe counting sheeps will help.
5 :
get a local Chaman. He might help u out.
6 :
There are so many things in peruvian pharmacies for you to sleep. And you dont need a presciption so just go to Fasa and order something. And why dont you bring your pills from Canada? Are they illegal?

Is this good enough to get into a good college

Is this good enough to get into a good college?
I'm going to put everything I have. I got a 31 on the ACT (going to retake it), my GPA is 4.1(weighted), I played soccer during high school but not for my school, I played one year of tennis (sophomore), I've done volunteer work in Peru during past summers, I'm in an environmental club at school, but I'm not in NHS. That's basically it. Be honest when responding. Is this good enough? What should I improve on? Looking at Northwestern, Duke, U of Illinois, and Vanderbilt, etc.

you have VERY high chances of getting in, volunteering (especially in other countries) is amazing, and sports as an out of school activity help a lot. You seriously have a good chance and those factors, plus your GPA and ACT will really help you. It won't hurt to apply, I would do it, and make sure your essay is STELLAR. this is sometimes the deciding factor.
2 :
Looking good to me, honestsly, lol. BUT getting better always helps your chances. Keep working hard, if you have a goal don't slack on it. Work your freaking BUT OFF if ya have to , but still enojoy life. There is plenty of good things out there so keep it up! When you write your essay to college, metion your goals and dreams too! They probably want to know why your so motivated! You'll do fine, hoped I help, so good luck and GODBLESS
3 :
you can always try a community college. They take anybody. When your grades improve you can transfer into one of the other colleges.
4 :
GPA could be higher....but the volunteer work and extra curriculars looks pretty good...Should be able to get into Vanderbilt or maybe Illinois/northwestern....but Duke tends to look more solely at GPA/Test scores

How can I succced without being in the US

How can I succced without being in the US?
Hello all, Although the title may sound like I am feeling frustrated, I am not. It's only that, analysing the market, the trends and a lot of other info here and there, I am finding it hard to position my website (which is this one: http://heptagrama.com) better because I am not in the US. For example: + To sell advertising or the products and services I intend to offer, one of the most reliable means of payment is PayPal; but Paypal doesn't work in Peru. + To receive visitors from English-speaking countries is very difficult, because it seems that everybody obeys Digg and Del.icio.us; but few people are open to explore other websites. + It doesn't matter that my —still small— website is being considered quite educational in Spanish-speaking countries or that a few blogs here or there consider it an alternative to the Wikipedia or that three of my articles have been reprinted in Africa; my 'fight against the monsters' is still a hard thing to achieve. Any suggestions?

Make a "product" that most Americans want... At a price they can afford.. you will find your market.. [as long as it is not illegal or immoral] Does this help any?
2 :
Tedel, I have a couple things for you. First of all, Paypal is only one option for online payment. There is also online payment processing whereby you accept credit cards. You should be able to find a bank in Peru that can assist you with this. Additionally, are you familiar with the concept of a skybox? With this, you will have a US based shipping address so that items can be shipped to you via that address in the US. That being said, if you can get one of those, then you can set up a Paypal account. I do not live in the US and I wanted to open a Paypal account before it was available to my country. So I used my US skybox account as the address to open a Paypal account. That should work for you as well. The other thing is, did you write all those articles? If you did, then you are a prime candidate for what I am about to suggest to you. It is called SBI. It will, through superior marketing technoques, help you move you website beyond the hurdles you currently face. Your challenge is not about where you are located or in what part of the globe, but rather about finding an efficient marketing technique that actually works and SBI will do that for you. If you wrote the articles on your site, then you will really in for a ride of your life with SBI, one that you will not regret. SBI will have you up and running and a very short time. You see, SBI is based on content, and you have that already lots of it! Take a look and see for yourself. http://buildit.sitesell.com/top_affiliate.html I have been involved in Internet market and for almost 10 years now. I have tried almost every legitimate conceivable type of marketing, many of which failed to deliver. I have spent hundreds of dollars but with very little results. I operated at a loss for years. Let's see, I did classified ads, search engine optimisation, pay-per-clicks, search engines submissions, paid search engine submissions, I purchased targeted visitors. I did Google Adsense. You name it, I did it. I even paid companies to promote by site. But then I heard about SBI and initially I was very skeptical about it. When I saw what they were offering and for less than a dollar per day, I said to myself, "NO WAY! That's Impossible. There is no way they can offer all of that for that price!" I mean, they are offering every-single-thing you need to build a professional and profitable website for less that a dollar a day!? That is: 1. From the conception and development of the idea, 2. The domain name - and all the fancy stuff that a webmaster will normally have to do in setting up the domain name is done automatically for you, 3. The keywords to promote your site, 4. The creation of each professional and optimized page, 5. Submission of each page to all the major search engines, 6. Of course, the hosting of your site, and tools that will tell you how your site is doing with advice on how to make it even better. 7. All the online help you will ever need I felt that there was too much hype about this product and that it was just another scheme. There was no way this one product could possibly do all the things they say it could. But then I started checking it out. I listened to what they had to say, I looked at the videos, I researched the company cynically, hoping to find something bad about them so that I can say to myself, "see, I told you so." The interesting thing was I found nothing negative about them. That intrigued me some more and I started looking at quite a number of online sites that are using their technology. To my utter amazement they all seemed to be doing very well, and had very good ratings on Alexa.com. Eventually I decided to give them a try. I have not regretted it. SBI is the 'best thing since sliced bread' http://buildit.sitesell.com/top_affiliate.html If you really want to make money online, use Site Build It (SBI). If you really want a high return on your investment, use SBI. Their entire system and is based on creating a quality content that is highly optimised to attract targeted traffic to your site. They provide posting for your site. They provide all the tools that you need to build a successful site and a lucrative and money making online venture. No longer do you have to build your site, then find a web host for it, then fight up with promoting it. With SBI you get it all - everything you need to build a successful site. Now that I am using SBI, I have started to see my online business turn around, and it will continue to get better. I wish I had tried this earlier. You see, not only do they provide web hosting for your site, but the also and more importantly provide every single thing you need to run a profitable online business in a step by step format that makes it very easy to follow and very easy to succeed at. They have written as well as video tutorials, and a large community of helpers who are using the product and willing to help you in any way. That's why I love Site Build It. I really works for me. Can you imagine what it will do for you?

so i'm trying to decide what i should major in. I was thinking public relations.. I know that I want to work in peru at an orphanage for a time in college, or in the summer (i'm taking spanish, too) and the person that is in charge of the orphanage at the moment just finished a major in PR, and is going onto international law. or i could go into communications, which is much broader (but i don't know what kind of jobs there are for a communications major) or I saw a major offered at uw madison that was called community and nonprofit leadership..which sounds interesting to me..but i don't know if it would have any "substance" for a future career. so basically i need people's opinions..i want to help out the homeless (volunteering my summer at an orphanage in peru is something I know im going to do) ... but i want to make a career out of that..and idk what to major in! pleaseee help! Well then...any suggetions....!!! ohhh and obviusly i would like to work in the place where i will have great chances to find a second job; but the cost of food and housing is important; so what do you think!..pleazzz let me know....

Go to The Broad Motor Resort,Colorado Springs.Vail, Aspen is too far from Denver and isolated Ski towns.Colorado Springs is beautiful city of 500,000 inhabitants and only 1 1/2 driving distance from Denver. You can find a second jobs in Colorado Springs and foods, housing cost is much cheaper than Vail and Aspen.
2 :
I'd go for the Broad Moor in the springs ,it would be year round employment and not nearly as much snow as the mountain towns.
3 :
I used to live near the Broadmoor; it's a pretty snobby place. Marriot seems like a poor choice since they aren't willing to give you housing. I've heard that Vail is an excellent place to live and work, so if I were in your situation, that's where I'd go.
4 :
Colorado Springs is going to be your least expensive to live. However, if you are coming to the US to get a feel for the culture...it's a little...different there. Extremely Christian and VERY conservative climate. Not very middle of the road America. Vail and Aspen have a more mixed US feel. If the Lodge gives you housing, I would take that...they have a good reputation...it's also much prettier in the mountains. (springs has its beauty, too,) More second jobs available in the mountains, as well. Vail is good. The overall climate is pretty rich, but the employees are generally more cool than you'll find in Aspen. Aspen is full of ultr-rich people and celebrities, and they tend to be extremely demanding...might not be your cup of tea, and, in any place, be prepared for tons of closed minded people to think you're mexican. They just don't get that there are many people from the rest of Latin world. Even the Brazilians get it, I think.

how do you plan on paying this loan back do you have collateral land homes or expensive cars without this your answer is no
2 :
Banks don't lend money if there's no income for the person to pay back a loan--if you're not saving any money then they have no guarantee that the loan to you can be repaid. Given the problems the banks are having lately with the mortgage fiasco, your chances are very slim.

Architect in Peru, Work in U.S

Architect in Peru, Work in U.S ??
I have a cousin who is an architect in Peru. She went to one of the best universities in Peru and graduated many years ago. She has also worked for achitectual firms. Few years ago she got a tourist visa for U.S and so she came to visit and decided to make some extra money while she was here, which is not legal. My question is, how can she wark as an architect in U.S legally? I know she can get a workers visa if she is offered emplyment. But what else can she do? Can she have a future in the U.S?

I'd recommend her that she get a one year of studies in a master degree in any university in the USA. The process is long but it worth it. She'll need a loan, but it's easier for graduated people. She can go to any university and get information about it. The second option would be to get a sponsor and get a job, but she wont ever be more than a drafter as anyone can be with less education than hers.

what should i major in? PR? communications? something else

what should i major in? PR? communications? something else?!?
so i'm trying to decide what i should major in. (: or not nessesarily the homeless...but i want to help others. the less fortunate. i'm kinda a humanitarian and i love helping people who need help

Communication majors find it harder to get a job after graduating. I'd probably suggest doing PR instead. But if you really want to go deep into helping people, I'd probably suggest psychology.

Is it illegal to deduct pay for coming in late

Is it illegal to deduct pay for coming in late?
The main problem is that I work in peru for an american company. The technicians here at times come in late. So they put a new rule that says if we are 2 minutes late it's 5 soles (currency here, like $5) deducted from salary and plus we have to make up the time and 10 minutes is 10 soles deducted. The problem is too, we don't get paid enough for all the stress we go through and I've been here nearly two years and never got a raise but am now making less then when i got started due to the major dollar drop and other BS with this company! I only make $2.40 /hour and that's lower now when I calculate. I've tried everything I know to please the boss, sent email for recommendations and even personally asked for a raise but just got lied to and I never seen it. I just want to know if it's illegal and can I use this rule to blackmail the owner in giving me a raise or I sew! I have no where else to go and they know that. I'm tired of the abuse and plus I'm the only american working in the technician department and they want me to take calls to help technicians in the states and sometimes customers because they don't know we are in peru. The company hides this Information from all the customers. Please help me!! thanks. if I come in 2 hours late, call in to notify, they will deduct 10 soles from my account and the hours missed unless I make them up.

Unless you are on salary, then you only get paid for the time you work. So if you are late, you get docked. Perfectly legal. Now to dock you AND make you make up the time, no they can't do both. Bcaasue then they are not paying you for time worked.

you will have to check any labor laws of Peru, US laws would not apply but in the states if a time clock is used, the hourly wage earners are paid for the time they have on the clock, if they are 2 hr late, they don't get paid for those 2 hrs and the employer possibly would have his own set of rules which he provided you in some kind of employee booklet outlining any penalties he might impose for tardiness and he is within his rights to do so but this is the US, not Peru

This is a matter of Peruvian labor law, not US tax law. The rule in the US would be that you must be paid no less than the prevailing minimum wage for the time actually worked, or your previously agreed upon hourly wage for the time actually worked, whichever is greater. Peruvian law may well be different, and since you live and work in Peru that's the law that will apply.

well, if the url isn't working for you, go into the embassy website directly and into the visa section and try it directly from there.
